Summer Internship for young adults age 18-21

We are looking for a dedicated Summer Intern to join our team as an LGBTQ+ Resource Navigator. This part-time position involves dedicating 5-10 hours per week to help identify resources for youth navigating gender and sexual identities and family dynamics. The role includes identifying, connecting with, and building relationships with organizations that provide support for LGBTQ+ youth, particularly those who may live in unsupportive home environments.
HOURS AND COMPENSATION:

Part-time position: flexible 5-10 hours per week for June and July

Compensation: $20 per hour

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Identify and compile resources for LGBTQ+ youth, focusing on support services and inclusive community organizations.

Make connections and establish relationships with organizations that can provide assistance and support to youth in need.

Collaborate with team members and partner organizations to develop outreach and resource sharing strategies.
-
Maintain accurate records of resources and contacts.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Recent High School graduate.

Personal experience navigating LGBTQ spaces.
-
Passionate about supporting passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ youth, especially transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse youth.

Access to a computer with an Internet connection

Ability to occasionally travel locally.

Willingness to visit community partners and resources.
ENVIRONMENT:
This position is mostly remote, with the possibility of visiting community resources as needed. Office space is available for those who prefer it.

Trans Youth Caregiver Assessment Planning Group

We are looking for several dedicated individuals to join as temporary part-time team members of an Assessment Planning Group (APG). The APG will be focused on identifying the needs of parents and caregivers of transgender and gender diverse youth and children. The responsibilities of this position include advising on the scope of a needs assessment, contributing to data collection strategies, evaluating collected data, and providing recommendations based on the findings.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION:

Part-time position: 3-5 hours per month for June - October

Compensation: $48 per hour

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

A parent or caregiver of a transgender or nonbinary youth;

A transgender or gender diverse young adult up to age 25;

A foster caregiver who has experience with LGBTQ+ children or youth.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Must live or work in Los Angeles County

Willingness to work in virtual (Zoom) meetings.

Ability to work with Google Docs or a commitment to learn the process.

Access to internet service.

Secure access to a laptop or other computer*.

PROJECT GOALS:
The primary goal of this initiative is to develop training and resources for caregivers in creating more supportive home environments for transgender and nonbinary youth. Ultimately, the aim is to reduce the number of transgender youth interacting with the child welfare system because of their gender identity and minimize housing transitions for transgender youth in foster care.
